Withholding tax calculator Kenya: how much to deduct and pay KRA
Pick the type of payment and get the tax to withhold, the amount you pay the supplier and the date to remit.
How withholding tax works
When you pay certain suppliers, you must hold back a percentage and pay it to KRA for them. The supplier uses the certificate to reduce their own tax. If you fail to deduct, KRA can ask you to pay the tax yourself plus penalties.
Rates here are the common resident rates. See the full withholding tax rates guide, and check the penalties in our penalty calculator.
