VAT calculator Kenya: add or remove 16% VAT
Type an amount and see the price with VAT, the price without it, and the VAT itself.
How to calculate VAT
To add VAT, multiply the price by 1.16. To remove it, divide the VAT-inclusive price by 1.16. Many people wrongly take 16% off the total, which understates the VAT. A price of KES 116,000 including VAT has KES 16,000 of VAT, not KES 18,560.
VAT registration becomes compulsory once taxable sales reach KES 5 million in a year. Read the full VAT registration guide and compare regimes with the turnover tax calculator.
